The Benefits of Multicultural Literature

Introducing multicultural literature into the classroom has many benefits. It allows students of all cultures to identify with the books they read in class. This in turn builds confidence for the students to be able to succeed. It also brings along a sense of belonging in the classroom environment. Multicultural literature allows for empathy to grow in the classroom and community. Students better understand other people's lives and the hardships they may have faced. Students begin to understand stereotypes and different perspectives in the world in which they live.
